This morning I woke up...

A lesson in rolling with the punches.

This morning I woke up excited to go on a day road trip up to the Storm King Arts Center in Mountainville, NY. They have a beautiful sculpture garden on 500 acres of rolling hills. I packed my camera, some snacks and planned to rent a bike for the afternoon.

First failure of the day was riding 45 minutes on the train to pick-up my car, only to realize I left my car key at home. An hour and a half later, I was ready for a second attempt.

It was then that I finally reached my car, which I’ve been keeping in a “secure” lot in Brooklyn, to find some bastard had stolen my driver’s side mirror.

I shared a few not-so-friendly words with the parking lot attendant and set off to find an Autozone, hoping they’d have a mirror in stock and with an appropriate amount of damsel-in-distress flirting, could convince some fine young fellow to install it for me.

4 Autozones, 3 random local body shops and 1 junkyard (it was worth a shot) later, I gave up and plugged “NISSAN DEALERSHIP” into my GPS. This was not after first shedding a few tears of frustration. Hey, I’m a girl, it’s what we do.

So here I am at the Yellow Hook Grille in Bay Ridge. It’s actually quite lovely sitting outside, having a beer with a burger on the way.

Not at all the day I had planned, but oh well. Life happens.
