I’ve lived here for 5 years. I’ve always been careful and felt safe.
But tonight I got mugged. In Soho, in a nice neighborhood, on the way to a birthday party.
I’m not hurt, just in shock. Upset and angry and frustrated.
It could have been worse, it can always be worse.
I really do love this place, I want desperately to love it right now, but after tonight I can’t wait to get the fuck out of here in two weeks.
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I have such a strong urge when standing near a cop, to grab the gun from their holster.
Happened twice today.
I don’t know, the pull is strong, man.
Would I run with it? Would I apologize and put it back?
Starting to worry I might actually go for it one of these days.
Wonder if there’d be wifi in the big house.

I was happy to find that the lonely pigeon man, who I photographed a couple of weeks ago, finally found another human who shares his affinity for birdlife.

How come I didn’t think to look for it at the bottom of my closet, at the back of the shoe rack, tucked neatly inside a Nalgene bottle?!
In an effort to be more mobile, I am minimizing my earthly possessions. I’ve started with clothes and shoes.
This is after only the first run-thru of my closet. How have I accumulated so much? It’s embarrassing.
I need a truck to take it all to the Salvation Army.
