and this, my friends…is how it is done.
3.10: My friend Ben introduces me to The Coral Sea. He makes my day by way of this introduction.
I post a song (Under the Westway) on my blog. I make your day because the song is so freaking good.
3.11: I order the album called Volcano and Heart.
3.12-3.14: Non-stop listening of the ONE The Coral Sea song that I have in my possession. I fall in love with The Coral Sea.
3.15: The Coral Sea album arrives in the mail.
I look up the lead singer, Rey Villalobos and check out his website. Which leads me to his Twitter.
Decide to write him on Twitter. Let him know of my love.
A DM back from the man himself, telling me that I just made his day. How ‘bout that!
…oh man, the internet is so awesome sometimes!
My new friend Rey is playing at SXSW on 3/20. Facebook Event HERE. If you see him, tell him I said hello.
I’m photographing an amazing woman named Michelle. Michelle is battling stage 4 (but curative) colon cancer and I am working with her right now to document her journey. Although she’s resting in bed in this image, Michelle is feisty, fiery and full of the most amazing creative energy. She’s an artist that paints and works with all kinds of media and she makes me laugh all of the time when I’m with her. She also teaches me all kinds of things about art, life, religion, spirituality, books, love, life and what it’s like to live with this disease and wonder what the outcome might be. I have lots to say about Michelle and I feel so fortunate to know her. She has added so much to my life and I can only hope I’m doing something for her, too.
I love this image because it gives you a glimpse into Michelle’s space. She’s written positive messages all over her mirrors, she has prayer lines and a beautiful altar by her bedroom window. Lance Armstrong is on the wall and so is a joke about how “things could always be worse.”
Michelle is truly a remarkable woman and I’m looking forward to posting more images from our time together.

Hi, you.
If you’ve got a few free moments and are feeling generous, would you mind throwing a vote my way in this portrait photography contest?
I’ve entered a self portrait (above) and an animal portrait (below).

You can only vote for one or the other, and it will ask you for your email address.
If you don’t feel like it, hey that’s no problem! I just appreciate you being you.
Okay so either a vote for MY FACE or a vote for my dog TUKKA.
Thank you!
Very much!
(if you don’t want to vote for me at all, you could also vote for my friend CHASI!)

This afternoon I saw An Education.
It was so, so good. I loved it.
Somehow, in some way, I really connected with this 16 year old English girl living in the 60’s. I felt for her.
Anyway, good flick. See it.
That Carey Mulligan is adorable!

This is my first street 365 of the year. I’ll tell you why. Because here in New York, if one sets up their camera on a tripod and walks 20 or so feet away from it, one can expect their equipment to be swiped. So I’ve resisted.
But last night I had a friend with me who could watch my stuff while I ran across the street.
Now that the weather is warming, I plan to do a lot more of these outside.
she's crazy, but i love her (as a friend)...
- Kelly: how long will it take you

- Lauren: stop timing me!
This is Dame Edna Everage, a very famous Australian comedian.
I shook her (his) hand the other night after seeing her (his) Broadway show, All About Me.
She might be an acquired taste but I find her hilarious. Watch her stand-up HERE.
Finally, after many months of waiting, here is the trailer for my film Incredibly Small.
I’d like to especially thank Ingrid Michaelson, Capybara and Bishop Allen for graciously allowing me to use their music.
I would also kindly ask everyone to help spread the word: reblog the trailer, Tweet a link to it, post it on your Facebook, text message your ex-girlfriend and tell her about it. Anything you can do. This movie has taken up the last year and a half of my life and I can’t wait to get it out to you guys!

My friend Dean has been working on his first feature, Incredibly Small, for what seems like ages! This trailer was well worth the wait.
I assume Dean will be updating his film’s twitter and tumblr (Dean, get on that…) as the project continues to move forward.
A massive congrats, Dean. Can’t wait to see you and your film in its entirety this summer!!
